ARCTIC BLAST ON FRIDAY, STILL FRIGID WITH DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS FOR MUCH OF THE CHRISTMAS WEEKEND12/22/2022 *** An ARCTIC Blast is coming to East Tennessee starting late Tonight into early Friday morning! 12 AM to 8 AM Friday morning, to be precise. Think layers. We could drop 20° in 1 hour...and drop a total of 40° in 8 hours. Plus, by Friday and Friday evening, wind chills across East Tennessee could easily reach -15° below zero or colder. And much colder in the Smokies (-25° to -40° below zero) *** *** Parts of the Plateau may see some locally higher SNOW amounts. I am expecting 1" to 3" + of SNOW in Fentress and Cumberland Counties, for example. But isolated 4" or 5" + may be observed there. *** Knoxville weather observations w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KTYS.html?
